White-faced Tiny the chihuahua is UK's oldest rescue dog – but there's a twist – The Mirror
A golden oldie, easygoing Tiny is believed to be the oldest rescue dog in the UK at the age of 18, and is now looking for his ‘furever’ home where he can retire and put his paws up.
But he doesn’t come alone as he has an inseparable best friend – Wilma – a shy, long black haired, sweet-natured loveable chihuahua who is an impressive nine years old. The pair have lived together since Wilma was a pup and were brought into the Dogs Trust by their elderly owner a few months ago – because she could no longer look after them.
Both dogs are fully housetrained, in great health and enjoy the simpler things in life like a gentle potter around the garden and a snooze in the sun. The OAPs are hoping for a peaceful, adult-only home to call their own with a secure garden where they can continue to enjoy their gentle routines and quiet life together.
And the Dogs Trust is hoping this Grandparents Day (Sunday October 5) will inspire dog lovers to consider giving older dogs like Tiny and Wilma a second chance. Claire Rowe, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Salisbury, says: “Tiny is a true gentleman. He may be 18, but he still enjoys exploring the garden and relaxing with his best friend Wilma.
“Compared to Tiny, Wilma is a much younger lady, but at nine years old, she, too, is looking for her retirement home. Tiny really proves that age is just a number, and we’d love to see him spend his golden years with a family who’ll cherish him just as much as we do.”
