Gregory, 8, and Cody, 13, are looking for their forever homes. Both pups, as well as many others, are available for adoption through Vintage Pet Rescue.
FOSTER – There’s no place like home for the holidays rings true for pets too. That’s why Alex Petrarca of Vintage Pet Rescue said now is the perfect time to find elderly animals a safe, loving, forever family.
Founded by Lincoln native Kristen Peralta and her husband Marc Peralta in 2017, Vintage Pet Rescue is a non-profit organization caring for and aiming to re-home senior pets in their final stage of life. On average, they care for around 20-35 dogs at any given time.
Since its inception, the organization has seen great success, say those who run it, saving and subsequently providing a higher quality of life for 1,293 dogs. This year alone, they said, they have saved 178 dogs, 155 of which have been adopted.
Petrarca, operations manager at VPR, said she hopes to place a couple more of those dogs in homes by the end of the year.
