While some cats love their owners with their entire being, others couldn’t care less whether you return home from work. But one man recently shared every cat owner’s dream when he posted his cat’s reaction after he returned home from just an hour away.
In a TikTok video, user @prettyboychristiann showed how his cat, Lay, often waits at the window until he comes home, before running to the door to greet him. It’s at this point that Lay rolls onto her back, exposing her belly – clearly ready for some petting. After this joyful welcome, he spends time snuggling, playing, and feeding his pet before settling down for the evening.
Another added: "I came home from after-school club and my cat pounced at me and started meowing while trying to bite me."
For a cat, lying on their back and showing their belly is a very vulnerable position — and it’s not one they would assume unless they trust their surroundings.
A statement on Cats reads: "A cat’s warm, soft, fluffy belly area is not a part of the body many people get to see. It’s a vulnerable area, filled with vital organs, so cats instinctively cover it to protect themselves.
