HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Animal protection officers saved and fed people’s pets on the North Shore. Hawaii News Now embedded with a team in Mokulēʻia

Friday’s flooding on Oʻahu’s North Shore stranded people and pets — but thankfully, Lucky, the dog was saved. On Saturday, Chris Casey, an animal protection officer with the Hawaiian Humane Society was helping to rescue and feed animals in the floodwaters.

“It was definitely intense being in waist-deep water, but my main concern was that we were able to distribute food or any kind of care, services animals needed,” said Casey.

On Monday, he was back with Josh Cary, the American Humane Society’s National Director for Rescue. In the muddy agricultural fields of Mokulēʻia, the team found a farm worker whose dogs needed food.

Minutes after the agricultural workers and animal protection officers got the vehicle moving, they got word that some puppies needed rescuing. Apparently their mother died.
