Meet Chunky, an adorable German shepherd puppy who is only a couple of months old and already full of personality. This sweet girl loves attention and enjoys meeting new people, getting pets and exploring everything around her. Chunky is affectionate, playful in short bursts, and very people-oriented — and she’s at the perfect age to start learning and bonding with her forever family. She is already showing signs of hip dysplasia, so she cannot be pushed physically or expected to keep up with the activity level of a typical German shepherd puppy. Chunky will need a home that understands large-breed joint issues and is prepared for possible long-term management.

Pharoh, Empress of the Window Perch, Sovereign of the Soft Blanket, and Ruler of the Entire Treat Cabinet, now seeks a royal court in which to bestow her eternal purrs. She is not to be touched without permission — unless you are very lucky or offer exactly the right amount of chin scritches. Pharoh adores affection, gentle pets and praise. She prefers velvet (though fleece will do) and drinks only the freshest water from a bowl (though a human cup left unattended is also acceptable). Pharoh demands a home worthy of her grandeur. She will tolerate your humble abode, provided it includes sun-drenched lounging areas, plush bedding, and minions (you) who will tend to her emotional and culinary needs. Other animals may or may not be welcomed into Pharoh’s kingdom.

These animals are available for adoption at the Animal Welfare League, 3519 Drance St., Port Charlotte. All animals are microchipped, neutered and current with their shots. We are open by appointments only. All of our adoptable pets are on the AWL website (www.awlshelter.org). If you see a pet that you would like to meet, call to make an appointment. We are taking appointments from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday.
