Does STAR TREK: SCOUTS Connect to LOWER DECKS? – Geek Girl Authority
Star Trek Day is an annual holiday celebrated by Trekkies taking place on September 8. It marks the anniversary of the date that the first aired episode of Star Trek: The Original Series, “The Man Trap,” was broadcast in the United States: September 8, 1966. Sometimes, Paramount uses the occasion to announce new Franchise projects. Star Trek Day 2025 was no exception, with the announcement of Star Trek: Scouts.
For this week’s Trek Tuesday, we’re examining how Scouts might have a surprising connection to another beloved Franchise property, Star Trek: Lower Decks. Be sure to let us know what you think of the Trekkie fan theory on social media.
Scouts is the new Star Trek animated series on Nick Jr., geared toward preschoolers. Previously, the Nickelodeon animated series Star Trek: Prodigy focused on grade school-aged viewers. In both cases, the shows aim to bring young viewers into the Trekkie fold. Both shows offer accessible stories set in the universe of the Franchise. Clearly, Scouts and Prodigy both hope to cater to the uninitiated, offering them a bridge into Star Trek and preparing them to enjoy the live-action “adult” Franchise shows.
On the same day Scouts was announced, a trailer and the first two episodes premiered on the Blaze and the Monster Machines YouTube channel. You can watch those and additional episodes on YouTube right now, if you haven’t already.
Scouts features three main characters. There’s JR the human (Hudson Brooks), who wears a red command uniform. Then, there’s Sprocket the Vulcan (Monique Thomas), who wears a yellow ops uniform. Finally, there’s Roo the human, who wears a blue science uniform. In addition, each of the main characters has a cute pet sidekick. There’s JR’s pet Zips, the Alfa 177 canine; Roo’s pet Bubbles, the Targ; and Sprocket’s pet Star, the cyborg turtle-like creature.
