Flying with pets: What owners should know before taking their cats and dogs on a plane
As more airlines allow pets on flights, owners might be considering taking their furry friends on an adventure – but there are a few things they need to know beforehand.
Virgin Australia says pets are allowed on flights if they weigh 8kgs, including the weight of the carrier, fit comfortably in the carrier under the seat in front of you and are older than eight weeks.
It actually takes up to a month of preparation and training to ensure your furry friend isn't stressed out during the flight, according to Petbarn's Head NSW Trainer Chelsea Seddon.

"It can be quite difficult for a pet, even if they're used to their carrier, being in an unfamiliar environment and suddenly not being able to have the option to come out and be comforted by their owner," Seddon said.
