LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — As people consider adding a pet to their family for the New Year, the Animal Foundation is encouraging potential adopters to consider animals they might normally overlook.
Blitz, a dog at the Animal Foundation, has been in the shelter for 94 days. The organization says cats, puppies and smaller dogs get adopted most easily, leaving bigger dogs like Blitz waiting months for families.
“He’s not sitting there begging for attention, putting out his paw. And so a dog like that, who’s overwhelmed in the shelter, they don’t have the best kennel presentation. So you really have to get the dog out of the kennel and see what their personality is like,” said Kelsey Pizzi, communications manager at the Animal Foundation.
For people who want to get to know Blitz, the Animal Foundation encourages fostering, to see if he’s the right fit for a family before adoption.
