Dog Mom Shares Her Pup's Adorable 'Rare Disability' and The Internet Can't Take It – Yahoo
It’s pretty much understood as a pet parent that you’ll just have to get used to your fur babies' hilariously unique quirks. Whether you’ve got a cucumber-hating cat or a dog who just has to burrow themselves into your dirty clothes, there’s never a dull moment when you’ve got a furry companion at your side. Milo, for example, loves to be covered up and doesn’t discriminate about what that looks like. The extra pool of fabric from a blanket hanging off the bed, a shirt lying on the floor, he’s even found his way into a pair of my boxers like he’s actually trying them on.
Despite how weird and outlandish our pets' behavior might seem to us, though, there’s usually some underlying explanation for why they seem to blunder about the way they do. Going back to my own fur baby, like Missy Elliot, he absolutely cannot stand the rain and has been known to sit inside in protest if he even senses that it might be wet outside. He hates taking baths, and if there’s morning dew on the grass, he’ll gingerly try his hardest to avoid it. Quirky and hilarious, yes, but the real reason my seemingly extra bougie Maltese is so water-averse actually has to do with the fact that, as a breed, they were never bred to swim.
That means when it comes to water, Milo isn’t actually fussy or high-maintenance at all—like Lady Gaga said, he’s born this way. The same can be said for some of our pups' other idiosyncrasies, as evidenced by a recent TikTok shared by @amityjoyce, which shows off her dog George’s “rare disability” that’s got all of us in our feels. In the video, we see George walking from the kitchen, where his food bowl is, into the living room, where everyone else is, and standing on the carpet before finally chewing his food. According to the caption, this is a pretty regular habit for George, and you’ve got to admit it’s incredibly adorable.
But I’m sure you’ve probably noticed that this isn’t a trait unique to George at all. Lots of dogs, including Milo, will pick up pieces of food and instead of eating them at their bowl, they’ll bring it somewhere before actually eating it. It might seem like odd behavior, but there’s actually a reason for that, too. Dogs, before they were domesticated, ate together in packs, and they still hold onto that trait today. The reason sweet George made the trip from the kitchen to his bowl outside of just enjoying the soft, squishy feeling of the carpet beneath his toe beans probably has more to do with him wanting to eat with his pack—and cue the water works.
After learning the reason behind George’s “disability,” fans flooded the comments saying things like, “My dog will literally cry at me until I bring his food in the room I’m in 😭💛” and “My dog will leave his food in his bowl all day unless I sit down at the table to eat with him 😭.” Who knew watching a dog eat could move us to tears this early in the day? That’s a good boy, Georgie.
