Firefighters cuddle cats and dogs in new Cape Coral calendar
People think “firefighter calendar,” and they immediately picture hot, shirtless hunks — all oiled up and smoldering for the camera.
Firefighters were lining up to be part of the new 2026 Rescue Meets Rescue Calendar, says Lt. Jason Spinner of the Cape Coral Fire Department. The calendar pairs Cape firefighters with cute cats and dogs from the Cape Coral Animal Shelter.
“There were people that were fighting in line trying to get involved,” Spinner says. “Everybody loves pets, and everybody has a soft spot in their heart for pets that can’t find a home.”

The 15-month calendar shows firefighters snuggling cats and dogs while doing things like sliding down a fire pole, sitting in a fire truck, lifting weights in a firehouse gym and hooking up a fire hose to a hydrant.
