It's been a challenging few weeks for Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter, after an incinerator at their facility on Monad Road malfunctioned while law enforcement was destroying seized methamphetamine. Yes, I realize how crazy that sentence sounds.
The entire facility was reportedly exposed to toxic contaminants, and fourteen staffers who were present at the time of the incident were all admitted to the hospital for treatment. Thankfully, no animals died from the exposure.
The Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter has resumed most of its daily operations at a temporary facility located at 6400 S. Frontage Road. Thank you to Lionheart Cannabis for letting them use their warehouse space (at no charge!).
Derek Wulf, Humane Outreach Coordinator at YVAS, brought us a fun little dog today for Wet Nose Wednesday. His name is Dante, and the shelter has this cutie-pie listed as a 10-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix.
Dante is super friendly, and he was clearly loved. Attempts by the shelter to contact the owner listed on Dante's microchip have been unsuccessful, and this pint-sized fella is now ready to be adopted.
