Pinellas County's biggest pet-friendly festival and adoption event returns to Gulfport

Pinellas County is one of the most dog- and pet-friendly places in America, and nothing shows that better than The Get Rescued Animal Rescue Fest. The most adorable event of the year returns to Gulfport on February 28 as the free, all-day festival takes over Beach Boulevard for a full day of festival activities and adoptions.
The 22nd annual festival runs from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, February 28, and the family-friendly experience is completely free to attend. In addition to adoptable pets from dozens of animal rescue groups, Get Rescued features a stunning array of local vendors, pet-themed purveyors, and incredible food, drink and art. The highlight is the annual Florida Weiner Dog Derby, as the area’s cutest and possibly speediest dachshunds compete for the title.
Pets on leashes are allowed, making this one of the best pet-friendly events on the annual calendar in Pinellas County. Proceeds from the event benefit local animal rescue organizations, while the festival results in dozens of sweet animals finding their forever home each year. It was at Get Rescued six years ago that I Love the Burg’s own Ysanne Taylor found and adopted her sweet Milo, who you can regularly see gracing our Instagram stories as he leads Ysanne around his favorite local parks (and he is very much the one making those decisions).
