According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of a batch of frozen spinach bites distributed in Maryland and Pennsylvania after the product was found to have the potential for contamination with rodent hair, according to federal food safety authorities.
The recall, which was initiated Jan. 16, 2026, affects “Simply Nature Spinach Bites” sold in 12-ounce retail boxes containing plastic-wrapped portions. The affected product carries lot number G25CF-02B, product number AL-SP, and UPC 4099100247992.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration classified the recall as Class II on March 16, indicating that exposure to the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, though the likelihood of serious harm is considered low.
The company notified consignees and the public through multiple channels, including email, telephone, and other direct communications. No press release was issued at the time of the recall.
Consumers are advised not to consume the affected product and to return it to the place of purchase or dispose of it. The recall remains ongoing, and no termination date has been announced.
