If you have a dog who hates the rain, you already know how dramatic things can get the moment those first drops start to fall.
Some pups will brave it; others will act like the sky is out to get them, and then there are the dogs who hear thunder in the distance and immediately pretend they no longer have functioning legs.
My Frenchie mix falls into the last category. A light sprinkle is enough to send her scrambling under the bed like she’s auditioning for a spy movie. And if it’s truly pouring? Forget it. There isn’t a chance she’s stepping outside unless I scoop her up like a baby and carry her to the yard, which doesn’t score me any points.
But as every dog parent knows, at some point, they have to go out, whether they want to or not. That’s why one family’s resourcefulness caught my attention.
When their Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix, Tucker, needed to head outside during a downpour, they fashioned a makeshift poncho out of a standard trash bag. Even better, it led to a moment guaranteed to brighten your whole day.
