Reptile expo brings out exotic animal enthusiasts of all ages | CBC News
"I always had pythons growing up," Sarah said. "They're just so different, and everyone is so afraid of them, but they are kind of cute and really good pets, they're really easy."
Sarah and her three-year-old son Jack were two of the hundreds of people who showed up in West St. Paul, just north of Winnipeg this weekend, for the Manitoba Reptile Breeders' Expo, held at the Access Centre on Saturday and Sunday.
The event, which has been running annually since 2007, is the largest of its kind in the province, and features a wide range of reptiles and exotic animals on display and for sale, while bringing in breeders and reptile lovers from across the country, according to event organizers Winnipeg Reptiles.
"He loves reptiles," Sarah said about her son, as Jack took a good look at some of the snakes that were on display at the show on Saturday.
Curtis Fraser who owns and operates Fraser Reptiles, a business based in the community of Ste. Genevieve in the RM of Tache, said he has spent years trying to educate people about the reasons he says reptiles make great pets.
