And just like Western movie scenes often have tumbleweeds rolling through a deserted town, this TikTok clip actually has a fur tumbleweed floating through the yard!

“When the fur tumbleweeds have you feeling like you live in the Wild West,” the darling canine’s mama writes on TikTok. “Fun fact: German Shepherds have two shedding seasons, each one lasts six months.”

German Shepherds have both a soft undercoat and a coarser outer coat that work together for insulation. This double coat requires them to shed heavily during seasonal changes in the spring and fall to regulate their body temperature, an event often called "blowing their coat.”

With these factors in mind, the German Shepherd breed is one of the biggest shedders in the dog world and requires a good amount of grooming.
