Starsand Island offers friendship in the form of cheerful NPCs and adorable animals. Becoming friends with any of them requires a little work, but it will be worth it in the end, especially when you can adopt your very own pet.

Each animal requires food and affection to become your pet, but when they are finally yours, you can have them follow you everywhere. There are a few animals you can adopt in Starsand Island, from dogs and cats to a squirrel or a capybara. Here is everything you need to know about befriending and adopting your very own pet.

Just like with human friends in Starsand Island, you have to increase the Affection level of your new friend before unlocking the next interaction. For animals, once you reach level three, you can adopt the animal. After adoption, you can continue to unlock the final two Affection Interaction levels.

To increase Affection, you should meet your chosen animal every day, greet it, feed it and pet it. You will get to know what its favorite foods are, but the game does give you a clue by only allowing you to feed them items that the animal is allowed. To find an animal, you can open your map and select the Residents option. Scroll down to find the animals, including the pandas, who, unfortunately, you cannot adopt. You can track them just like you do with human residents.
